Hello everyone. So today, while surfing the interwebs, I discovered an absolutely WONDERFUL website that affirms what I have been saying all along. You see, being a member of the armed forces, people tend to think that you must blindly obey every order given to you, even if it is coming directly from the POTUS. I’ve been saying all along, that is simply not true. Obviously NO ONE can order you to do something horrific like kill innocent children, that’s a given, but there are many other things that military personnel think they CAN be ordered to do legally. Before I go any further, I would just like to post up the Oath of Enlistment into the United States Armed Forces:
I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
Now, having read that, and myself having repeated it with hand raised, in front of old glory for two enlistments now, and preparing to do it for my third, it is my belief that the oath was worded the way it is for a reason. It is my belief, and I have found that I am not alone in my thinking, that the Oath pledges allegiance to certain entities, in ORDER OF IMPORTANCE. What does this mean? It means that every service member’s duty is, above all else, to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”. This is our primary duty as protectors of our great land. To fail at this will spell disaster, and will guarantee the fall of America.
Other than my small circle of friends, I had no idea how many other military personnel and law enforcement officials (they take a VERY similar oath of office) felt exactly as I do. Boy was I elated to discover a website, http://oathkeepers.org This website has spelled out, in plain English, what I have been saying all along! It is comprised of Active Duty, National Guard, Reservist, Veterans, Retirees, Law Enforcement Officials, and Firefighters (I guess they take an oath too, WHO KNEW??!!), who all share the exact same sentiments. That as protectors of the Constitution, WE WILL NOT BE ORDERED TO INFRINGE ON THE RIGHTS OF FELLOW AMERICANS!! To order us to do so makes the person giving the order a TRAITOR. And they are to be dealth with as such.
I beg each and every one of you reading this post…please go to the Oath Keeper’s site, read their “Declaration of Orders We Will NOT Obey”, and learn what the Oath Keepers are all about. The freedom and liberty of each and every one of us is on the line in these dark times in our history. If you have children, this is so very important, do you want your children to grow up as slaves to a tyrannical regime, or do you want them to be free as we were in our youth?? And after reading the site, watching their videos, remember this…there are people in this very country that will not allow your rights to be infringed upon, there are citizens, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines, Law Officers, Sheriffs, and Firefighters who will lay down their lives to protect what was bestowed upon us by our founding fathers. Please do not misread me, I am NOT advocating violence, I am simply stating that there are those of us who are willing to lay it all on the line for the preservation of our great nation.
